GDT: Amerks/Pirates Sun. 3/7/10, 4:00 PM, HSBC Arena

The Amerks could wrap up a sweep weekend with a win today in flubbalo against Portland. When was the last time the Amerks swept a weekend? Dare I say before Thanksgiving? Anyways Portland comes in banged up and with Mancari who was recalled yesterday.

Anybody going? I'll be there with a few others.

Amerks 4-3 OT

York, Johnson, Mink (2)

Plante gets the nod

We have a carful coming...

To bad about Mancari, I wanted to heckle him.

Amerks 5-3 (Mink, York, Henry, Oreskovich and Taffe)

Salak 25/28

Heading out soon.. anyone have tix already? If so what section? Not getting ours til we get there.

Mancari and Ennis out should help. The last game in Buffalo was a turning point in the season for both teams, maybe a solid win will get rid of those demons.

I'm going. I'm disappointed to not see Ennis. Not so disappointed to not see Mancari, but I think his absence will hurt. Hey, but Gerbe's back in the lineup.

Looks like Dineen won't be behind the bench either.

any free TV? I clicked on my usual site and got a different game. Is there no telecast cuz the game is in Buffalo?
I see Rory is playing! And so is Plante! Wow.

apparently donnie is saying he will be talking with Nolan and that there is something to report...not at liberty to discuss yet. Wonder what?

wow--Savard of the Bruins just got knocked silly by a Penguin...a pretty blatant hit to the head...he was carried off on a stretcher. No penalty. Replay shows it was pretty intentional. Hate it when that happens.

Meanwhile back at the ranch---2-1 good guys! Nice...so far

Re: GDT: Amerks/Pirates Sun. 3/7/10, 4:00 PM, HSBC Arena

Who would have thunk it? Down two defensemen, the Amerks allow four goals in three games and take six points -- all on the road. Obviously, strong goaltending was key, and Plante playing well against someone other than Toronto is great to see, but there are lots of positives from the weekend. Who would have thought this defense could survive without Ellerby?

But, seriously, this is the type of string the team needed to reverse the momentum. I actually saw a couple Amerks ads during the NHL on NBC game, and hopefully they'll draw a few more folks this weekend with the team playing better to try to keep this string going.

I was at the game, it was really a rocket! It was a NHL shot and what a pass from York from inside the Amerks end of the rink. Mike York makes this team go. He is my MVP.

The Taffe goal was a twine seeking missle, but if it wasn't for york and his heads up playing we would still be on that recent slide. Kind of funny though that only a little over 4000 fans were there tonite. One would think that the fans of the sabres would come out to see there future players.

There wasn't even 4000 there, even though they announced that. I would guess 2-3,000 people there. Few hundred Amerks fans.

Feeling pretty good again.
