Craig Weller to the Wolves

George Richards just posted a tweet saying the Panthers are loaning Weller to the Wolves next week. I wonder if that means they'll loan us someone? Noah Welch like Eric has been asking?

Re: Craig Weller to the Wolves

this move makes total sense....as long as we get a player 'in return'. We certainly didn't need another vet forward. Welch would be a great pick up,

Re: Craig Weller to the Wolves

I'd be stunned if the Amerks didn't receive a defensemen from Chicago, they have 12 Defensemen on their roster. Of those 12, 9 aren't vets.

Here are the 9 very likely Jody is picking from. I have no idea who's injured and who isn't but here they are.

Paul Postma
Noah Welch
Michael Vernace
Nathan Oystrick
Jamie Hunt
Grant Lewis
Scott Lehman
Arturs Kulda
Ivan Vishnevskiy

I know the consensus is Welch around here, but I'd be happy with Jamie Hunt or Oystrick as well.

The defensemen who suited up last night for Chicago were

Postma
Welch
Chelios
Vernace
Kulda
Vishnevskiy

I'd imagine that indicates something about who the Wolves would rather not lose. Oystrick is actually Anaheim property now after being traded five days ago from Atlanta. I'd imagine the Ducks just decided not to mess with his AHL status in the interim. He played the entire year in the NHL last year.

Statistics indicate that Lewis and Lehman are fringe players on the Wolves.

Since we already have DeGray... Oystrick makes sense.

Jesus... Just when we all start thinking Rory Fitzpatrick is playing halfway decently again... He's got another injury where he will miss time.

Re: Craig Weller to the Wolves

Went on the Wolves board at AHLfans.net and found that Steve Mcarthey and Scott Lehman are out for the year, Grant Lewis has been out for a while and no one knows when he'll return. Nathan Oystrick is out until April with a broken Jaw.

So to update, this list appears to be the healthy non-vets left with Chicago.

Re: Craig Weller to the Wolves

Bad news for us. Noah Welch suffered a concussion over the weekend. Not sure how serious, but it sounded like he'd be out for a bit.

I wonder if Brian Sipotz might be the guy we get. He's 6'7 250 and might be the presence the Amerks want. Unfortunately, he's a vet.
