GDT: Clear Day Deadline - 3/10/09

This is the big day. The Amerks and Florida have done a lot of talking over the last week about improving this team, so they must get it done or else they will look very foolish.

What is everyone hoping for? I think it's absolutely necessary for them to get another solid defenseman with a physical presence and a forward with speed who can replace what we lost in McArdle. But that's pretty obvious.

Apparently the Amerks are going to wait until the last minute to make their moves, but they better not disappoint. If tomorrow passes and nothing is done, there will be a lot of unhappy fans.

Liam Reddox or Kaspars Daugavins for my forward choices.

Doug Janik for my defensive choice. Grand Rapids is dumping everybody. I don't care he's a vet. I know I can rely on him in the playoffs. You put him with a healthy Roy and you have a pretty decent shutdown AHL pair.

Speaking of Grand Rapids, I'd love Ole-Kristian Tollefsen. You need your head up playing against him. He's very solid.

Is the roster limit 23? Then if there are injuries or recalls or too many Vets, other guys get to play?

There's obviously tons of loopholes when it comes to the clear day roster. It really means nothing. The only significant part of tomorrow is if the Amerks get a player or 2 on loan. The actual roster is pretty meaningless.

The sadder thing is the fans of whom you speak are probably only us guys and gals who post here. I doubt many others are even aware of this deadline, or even care what happens to the roster. Given the small crowds, there still is a lot of rebuilding to do. Friday will be interesting.

Josh Hennessy will be one of the first call ups for ottawa at the end of the season. Murray loves the way he plays.

Calla has told the reporter in Florida that he expects to stay there.

Should be an interesting day.. I'm sure we'll all be reloading Kevins blog often today.

Ya, I would hope the Amerks "go for it" instead of being conservative like they usually are. They want a physical stay at home d-man and a forward with speed. Lets hope they come through with the "goods".

I know you will all be shocked, but I just don't see much happening today. I have no confidence in the Amerks to actually do something risky and pick up a couple players, and I certainly have even less confidence in Florida.

The day will go by and we'll eventually read quotes saying.. "we really like the way the team is composed and we think they can make a serious run" and "we looked to make a move but there just weren't any that made sense".
